Nominations for the 2025 round are now closed, Nominations for the 2026 round will open in due course.

Nominations for the 2025 of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service are now open.

Every day, millions of people across the UK are making a difference by volunteering. Each year, outstanding examples of this work are celebrated through the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).

Created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), the Award has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from all across the UK for many years.

Equivalent to an MBE, KAVS is the highest Award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and they are awarded for life.

The Process

Nominations for the 2025 awards are open until the 1st December 2024.

Groups need to be nominated by a member of the public with a good knowledge of the group’s work (such as a beneficiary or long term supporter). The nominator must not be a volunteer, employee, or trustee of the group, or be in any way involved with the running of the organisation.

Nominated groups will need to provide two letters of support from two additional people. It is good if one letter of support is completed by a beneficiary – a service user who is not in any way connected to the group as a volunteer, employee etc.

Eligibility

Please see below the eligibility criteria for nominated groups. Further guidance can be found here.
