Description and Criteria

The Randal Foundation Fund has been set up as a collaboration between the Randal Charitable Foundation and Forever Notts to support grassroots charitable organisations with a turnover under £50,000 working in Nottinghamshire. Organisations must be working to significantly improve the quality of life for individuals, enabling a long term or permanent betterment of life chances, personal circumstances or physical or mental health.

Fund priorities

Your project must align with one or more of the priorities below and should clearly demonstrate how you are working to address at least one of the priorities:

• Healthcare for the vulnerable
• Mental ill-health
• Alleviating poverty
• Women and children at risk of violence or exploitation and
• Education of the most disadvantaged

We are also particularly interested in applications where people who are experts by experience of the issues being addressed are involved with the design of the project and/or the running of the organisation / delivering the project.

The Randal Foundation would like to monitor the number of ‘Lives directly saved’ and ‘Lives significantly improved’ as a result of this funding. Target numbers will be requested as part of the application and actual numbers required with end of grant monitoring.

The Randal Foundation’s definitions for ‘Lives directly saved’ and ‘Lives significantly improved’ are as follows;

Lives directly saved: An individual whose life is directly saved is a life that was at serious and credible risk of loss before the provision of grant funding and, as a result of expenditure of the grant funding directly or indirectly for the benefit of the individual, has significantly lowered the risk of loss of life.

Lives significantly improved: A significant improvement in the quality of life of an individual is achieved where grant funded expenditure directly enables a long term or permanent betterment of an individual’s life chances, personal circumstances or physical or mental health.

Size of grants

You can apply for up to £3,000 to be spent over 12 months.

Who can apply?

Randal Foundation Fund grants are targeted at small grassroots organisations serving Nottingham City and County, with charitable aims, where a small amount of money can make a significant difference.

Any grassroots organisations previously awarded funding through the Randal Foundation fund, are not eligible for further funding for a period of three years.

Your organisation must:

• Be either a small registered voluntary organisation, community group, small charity or other type of not-for-profit organisation provided that the purpose of the grant is wholly charitable.
• Have an annual income of under £50,000 per annum
• Your work will be serving the people of Nottinghamshire (city or county)
• Have a governing document (also known as a constitution, rules, memorandum, or articles of association) in the name of their organisation outlining charitable objectives and with a charitable dissolution clause
• Have a bank account in your group/ organisation’s name with at least two signatories, who are not related to one another
• Have 2 years of independently examined accounts that you can submit
• Have an up-to-date signed safeguarding policy that is reviewed annually
